Crash Boat Beach is on the western coast of Puerto Rico near Borinquen. The beach name dates back to the days of nearby Ramey Air Force Base (long since closed), when rescue boats used to be stationed here to respond to any aircraft that might have to crash land in the water. The rescue boats are long gone, but the remnants of their mooring slips are still visible in the beach park. Crash Boat is primarily a locals spot, but it has become known for its colorful fishing boats that are usually staged on the beach here.
We made a short stop at Crash Boat Beach on our way to Borinquen as the late afternoon sun started to set. While it made shooting a little challenging, it gave off a warm light that illuminated the boats on the beach nicely. While we were there, some local fishermen came around the point and landed on the beach, pulling their boat up on the beach and can be seen in several of these photos.
