Canyon De Chelly is the only unit within the National Park System that is run completely by the Navajo. Spider Rock is a pair of red rock spires located at the junction of several fingers of Canyon De Chelly, and is one of the most photogenic parts of the national monument. Spider Rock overlook is a great place to enjoy panoramic views of the Canyon and watch amazing sunsets.

From the overlook area on the canyon ridge, you can take great panoramic shots of the dramatic canyon setting during the day.

As the sun begins to set, you can get some nice alpen glow on the tops of Spider Rock's red sandstone spires and canyon walls. If you are lucky enough to have some clouds overhead, you can also get some color in the sky.
