The Alabama Hills National Scenic Area is a stunning landscape that sits at the foot of an impressive view of the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The surrounding view is dominated by the triangular Lone Pine Peak and the saw-toothed Mount Whitney. The area has been used for many western movies, commercials, and other cult favorites like “Tremors”. “Movie Road” winds through seemingly endless piles of immense boulders and high desert brush. The Alabama Hills are an excellent sunrise location, where you can catch an intense alpen glow on the mountains, or enjoy the colors of sunrise over the boulders or Mobius Arch.
Barrel cactus in the Eye of Alabama area. This shot was taken with an IPhone 11. It handled the extreme contrast of this shot very well, but isn't able to keep the background sharp when focusing up close on the cactus.

Another set of barrel cactus in the same area, with the Sierra Nevada range as a backdrop. This image is a series of focus stacked shots taken with my DSLR, to obtain sharpness from the cactus all the way back to the mountains.
