The Valley of Fire is a chaotic landscape of colored sandstone…blood reds, soft pinks, fiery oranges, sublime purples, sunny yellows and stark whites, to name just a few. Much of this multi-colored fairy land is easily accessed along White Domes Road, a winding, roller coaster that is as much fun to drive and the scenery is amazing. There are a few named sites along this road…Nike Rock, Crazy Hill, etc…but you can find adventures in colored rock in almost any direction to explore. At the end of the road is the White Domes Loop trail. The most interesting part of this loop trail to photograph is the White Domes Slot Canyon. The best time to photograph the slot is near mid day, when it gets a some reflected light which adds color to its pock-marked canyon walls.
