Skagsanden Beach in the Lofoten Islands of Norway has several streams that cross over some tidal flats on their way to the ocean. These streams mix black silt with lighter sands to create some amazing high contrast patterns. A fantastic opportunity for close-up abstract images!
This sediment mixing on the beach creates some great foreground features for landscape images. The conditions at this location were extremely dynamic. The lighting and weather were constantly changing, and the patterns in the sand were also constantly shifting with the rising tide and waves.
